Portland Woman Plows into Pedestrians on the Las Vegas Strip in her Car
Date: December 20, 2015
Location: Las Vegas Boulevard
Name: Lakeisha N. Holloway, Jessica Valenzuela
On Sunday a Portland woman drover her car on the Las Vegas strip sidewalk and plowed into about 34 people including Pacific University wrestlers.
Four of the 34 pedestrians injured from the crash were from the Pacific University wrestling team that was in Las Vegas for a tournament.
The driver was identified as Lakeisha N. Holloway, 24, of Portland, and her 3-year-old daughter was in the car they were living in.
Holloway repeated plowed into pedestrians on the crowded strip and neither her nor her daughter were injured.
One pedestrian was killed, Jessica Valenzuela, 32, of Buckeye Arizona.
Holloway was arrested later in a parking lot where she left her child in the vehicle.
In a pedestrian v. car accident, the pedestrian is often seriously injured. In cases where the driver is at fault, the driver’s auto insurance will ultimately compensate the injury victim.
Your own Personal Injury Protection (PIP through your own auto insurance) still applies in this type of case, so use your own auto insurance to pay medical bills until you settle your claim with the at-fault driver’s insurance.
If you don’t have an auto insurance policy, then your health insurance will cover your medical bills. If you don’t have auto or health insurance, the at-fault driver’s PIP should cover your medical bills.
