Man in Wheelchair Struck by Pickup Truck

Early Saturday morning a man in a wheelchair was critically injured after being struck by a pickup truck in Southeast Portland.
Ronald Edwin Shaplan, 39, was hit by a pickup truck driven by George Michael Bute, 68, near Southeast 82nd Avenue and Clinton Street.
Shapland may have been intoxicated when he drove his wheelchair into the northbound lanes of Southeast 82nd Avenue.
Bute was not impaired at the time of the crash.
