Patriot Guard Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Accident
Date: August 10, 2014
Location: Highway 51 and Halls Ferry Road intersection, north of Independence
Name: Richard Romano
Richard Romano, 50, was on his 1990 Yamaha motorcycle, moving north on Highway 51 toward Halls Ferry Road intersection when a 2013 Dodge pickup driven by David Hargreaves, 64, that was stopped at the stop sign pulled out into the path. Romano’s motorcycle hit the side door of the pickup and he was ejected and sustained serious injuries.
Police said that Romano was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. They have cited Hargreaves for Failing to yield Right of Way. Hargreaves and his 63 year old woman passenger were not injured in the accident.
We extend our sympathies to the injured and hope he recovers quickly and completely.
Our hearts go out to the victim of this accident. We are reminded that the sheer size of these vehicles can make truck crashes catastrophic. Our best wishes go out to Romano in this time of tragedy.
If you or a loved one was injured in a trucking accident, consider contacting a compassionate and competent Portland truck accident attorney. They will be able to explain to you the extensive investigation required by these accidents.
Truck accidents require extensive investigation to determine liability. The insurance company that works for the trucking company will look at witness statements, trucking logs, cell phone records of both drivers, police reports, the trucking company’s safety record. Be aware that this is happening, and do not sign any documents from that company without speaking to a lawyer.
You should investigate also. Take pictures at the site of the accident, keep your medical records and bills, and exchange information with the truck driver.
The next steps (seeking medical treatment, investigating the trucking company, bringing a personal injury claim, etc.) can be tricky and overwhelming. Let a Portland personal injury lawyer help you get better, by letting you focus on yourself, instead of the at-fault driver.
