Several Injured on US 30 During Car Crash
Date: May 1, 2014
Location: U.S. 30, Clatskanie
Name: Not Released
It was reported that a 60-year-old woman, who was working for ODOT at the time, was driving a 2008 Ford F450 truck behind a highway maintenance sweeper. As she was driving, she was hit from behind by a 2012 Ford Budget rental truck pulling a trailer loaded with a passenger car.
The ODOT driver, whose name has not been released, was taken to Peace Health St. John’s Medical Center in Longview Wash. A 45-year-old passenger in the rental truck was trapped inside for about 30 minutes before Clatskanie firefighters extricated her. She, along with the 29-year-old rental truck driver, were taken to Peace Health St. John’s Medical Center with non life threatening injuries.
The crash is under investigation and none of the names of those involved have been released. No citations were issued or arrests made. Seat belt use was not mentioned and it is not known why the rental truck rear-ended the Ford F450.
We would like to wish all the injured parties involved in the accident full and fast recoveries. Our thoughts are with you as you recover.
If you or a loved one was injured in a trucking accident, consider contacting a compassionate and competent Portland truck accident attorney. They will be able to explain to you the extensive investigation required by these accidents.
Truck accidents require extensive investigation to determine liability. The insurance company that works for the trucking company will look at witness statements, trucking logs, cell phone records of both drivers, police reports, the trucking company’s safety record. Be aware that this is happening, and do not sign any documents from that company without speaking to a lawyer.
You should investigate also. Take pictures at the site of the accident, keep your medical records and bills, and exchange information with the truck driver.
The next steps (seeking medical treatment, investigating the trucking company, bringing a personal injury claim, etc.) can be tricky and overwhelming. Let a Portland personal injury lawyer help you get better, by letting you focus on yourself, instead of the at-fault driver.
