Sometimes, a driver is unable to drive safely because of a medical problem and causes an accident. In some circumstances, the driver may be liable, but in others they may not. In cases like this, a car accident attorney can help you investigate the true cause of the crash.
Some common instances include:
- The medication the driver was taking impaired their driving
- The driver’s medical condition caused them to lose of control of the vehicle
- The driver has experienced sudden loss of hearing, vision, or reflexes
- The driver has a heart attack while driving
If the driver took too much of the medication, for example, they (and their auto insurance policy) may be liable for any injuries, but if they were misdiagnosed or given the wrong medication, a medical provider or pharmacy might be liable. It is crucial that liability be thoroughly investigated in any crash with an unknown cause.
Hiring a competent Portland personal injury attorney is a great first step to getting the investigation process started. Some attorneys will even do this investigation without any costs out of your pocket.
