Two Teens Injured in Truck Accident on Hwy 213
Date: July 13, 2013
Location: Highway 213, Molalla
Names: Sarah Musgrove, Lorene Dooley, Andrew Rueckert
Sarah Musgrove, 18, was attempting to make a left turn off onto Highway 213 on Saturday evening. As she was attempting to turn, her 1995 Ford Explorer was struck on the driver’s side by a tractor trailer. The driver of the tractor trailer, Andrew Rueckert, 29, of Kalama, was not injured in the accident.
Musgrove was seriously injured and had to be transported by Life Flight helicopter to a Portland hospital. The passenger in Musgrove’s vehicle, Lorene Dooley, 16, of Mulino, was reported to be injured as well. Their current conditions are not known.
The accident is currently under investigation and it was not reported if the parties involved were wearing seat belts. The highway had to be closed for approximately 2 hours as authorities cleared the scene and assisted the injured parties involved. No citations were issued as a result of the collision and it does not appear that any are forthcoming.
We would like to extend our best wishes to both Sarah Musgrove and her passenger Lorene Dooley. We hope you both have rapid and complete recoveries from the injuries you suffered.
If you or a loved one was injured in a trucking accident, consider contacting a compassionate and competent Portland truck accident attorney. They will be able to explain to you the extensive investigation required by these accidents.
Truck accidents require extensive investigation to determine liability. The insurance company that works for the trucking company will look at witness statements, trucking logs, cell phone records of both drivers, police reports, the trucking company’s safety record. Be aware that this is happening, and do not sign any documents from that company without speaking to a lawyer.
You should investigate also. Take pictures at the site of the accident, keep your medical records and bills, and exchange information with the truck driver.
The next steps (seeking medical treatment, investigating the trucking company, bringing a personal injury claim, etc.) can be tricky and overwhelming. Let a Portland personal injury lawyer help you get better, by letting you focus on yourself, instead of the at-fault driver.
